Frequently Asked Questions
The Thinkbox Co-Pay Project
For the people doing everything right—and still priced out of healing.
FOR SPONSEES
What does The Thinkbox Co-Pay Project do?
We help people with insurance access mental health care by covering the costs their insurance doesn’t—like co-pays, deductibles, or limited out-of-network support.
Who qualifies for sponsorship?
You may qualify if you:
-
Have health insurance but still can’t afford therapy
-
Are experiencing mental health challenges (anxiety, depression, trauma, etc.)
-
Are actively seeking help but facing financial barriers
We prioritize individuals with consistent need, motivation for healing, and limited access to other support resources.
What services are covered?
Coverage depends on your plan and provider. Typical support includes:
-
Therapy co-pays (weekly or monthly sessions)
-
Intake evaluations
-
Medication management
-
Deductible support (in some cases)
We work with both you and the provider to set up a sustainable plan.
What if I miss an appointment?
We understand life happens—but we do have a policy:
-
1 no-show = warning
-
2 or more = possible pause or cancellation of sponsorship
-
Frequent last-minute cancellations may also count
Consistency matters—for your healing and for fairness to others waiting for support.
Will my personal information be shared?
No. We only receive attendance confirmations or invoices—not your personal medical details. Anything beyond that requires your written permission.
How long does sponsorship last?
Most sponsorships last 6–12 months, depending on need, funding, and follow-through. We check in periodically to ensure things are going smoothly.
FOR SPONSORS
Where does my donation go?
Your donation helps someone cover the cost of therapy, evaluations, or prescription-related mental health care. You can:
-
Sponsor a specific individual
-
Contribute to our general fund (used for urgent or partial needs)
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes! We are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. All donations are tax-deductible. You’ll receive a receipt and year-end giving statement.
Can I get updates on the person I’m sponsoring?
You may receive limited updates—such as confirmation of attendance or when care begins/ends—if the sponsee agrees. We respect each individual’s privacy and healing process.
Can businesses sponsor someone?
Absolutely. Businesses, churches, and organizations are encouraged to sponsor individuals or groups and may be recognized on our site or materials (if desired).
Can I choose who I sponsor?
In some cases, yes—especially if you're sponsoring someone you know or are referred to. Otherwise, we match sponsors and sponsees based on need, availability, and fit.
